My goal as a psychiatric nurse practitioner is to build partnerships with patients to effectively assess, diagnose, and manage mental health conditions while providing holistic patient care. Advocating for patient needs and concerns allows me as the provider to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient. Working with patients and families is a top priority and aids in building a lasting, strong, and collaborative patient and provider partnership. I believe that patients have a right to direct their care and it is my responsibility to provide the appropriate tools needed to achieve success.
I am an active listener and believe that through listening, I am able to gain a better understanding of maladaptive behaviors, problems or concerns an individual may have. As an effective problem solver, I can help with improving motivation, coping skills, problem solving ability and build one’s self-confidence. I am understanding and feel that everyone has the tools or can obtain the proper tools to overcome obstacles and maintain stability in life. I am confident and believe that through collaborative care and wellness, societal stigma associated with mental health disorders and care can be eliminated.
I believe in being open, honest, and transparent. As the provider, I am there to learn about you as the patient and to be of service where needed. My goal is to have a holistic approach and to treat the patient and not just their disorders. Growth requires change and can be a difficult process but guiding patients towards health, stability and safety during their journey is paramount to wellness.
