Personal Experience & Biography

In treating anxiety, I use a combination of proven therapeutic approaches tailored to your unique needs. With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we’ll work on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns while developing practical skills to manage anxiety. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) will help you regulate intense emotions, practice mindfulness, and build distress tolerance. Motivational Interviewing (MI) will enhance your motivation for change by exploring your personal goals and values. Finally, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on accepting and making space for anxiety, while guiding you to live a values-driven life despite your fears. Together, these approaches offer a comprehensive and supportive path to managing anxiety and achieving a more fulfilling life.

In treating a client with bipolar disorder, I focus on providing a holistic and personalized approach. I begin 2 by building a trusting therapeutic relationship and conducting a thorough assessment to understand your symptoms, triggers, and overall life context. I incorporate evidence-based psychotherapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, to help my clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and develop effective coping strategies. Collaborating closely with medical professionals, I support clients in managing any necessary medication, ensuring it complements the therapeutic work. I emphasize the importance of a stable daily routine, healthy lifestyle choices, and self-care practices to maintain mood stability. Throughout our work together, I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, gain insight, and work towards a balanced and fulfilling life.

I am most rooted in DBT, which focuses on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills. I feel that this approach is best at helping people understand how their relationships work as well as why their mood has become unhelpful to them as well as how to approach making a positive change. I also utilize CBT for dealing with anxiety, paranoia, and stress, as we can often convince ourselves of things that aren’t true about ourselves or the world at large that create emotional and relational problems. I also use ACT to help people accept the things that they cannot change and MI to help people understand disconnects between their deepest desires and their behaviors.

In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we focus on building rapport and getting to know each other. We’ll take some time to discuss your background and experiences, helping me understand where you’ve been and what you’re currently going through. This initial conversation is an opportunity for you to share your story and for me to learn more about your unique situation. We’ll also complete some necessary intake paperwork, which includes screening for anxiety and depression. This process helps us establish a baseline and tailor our work together to your specific needs. My goal is to make you feel comfortable and understood from the very beginning, setting the stage for a positive and productive therapeutic journey.

As a therapy provider, my greatest strengths lie in being insightful and understanding, which helps me deeply connect with clients and grasp the nuances of their experiences. I balance a friendly and caring demeanor with a willingness to be confrontational when necessary, challenging clients to explore difficult topics and make meaningful changes. My curiosity drives me to continuously learn and grow, while my supportive nature ensures that clients feel heard and valued throughout our sessions. I am also a good listener, always providing a safe space for clients to express themselves freely.
