Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Kentucky. I graduated with my Masters in 2015 and have been practicing as a Certified Social Worker for the last ten years, before obtaining my independent practitioner license. During this time, I’ve worked with all kinds of populations from children and adolescents navigating foster care, adults struggling with substance abuse and being incarcerated, to college students trying to cope with the stress of being a student.
I help my clients dealing with everyday stress (and not-everyday-stress) learn ways to effectively manage and break through barriers to reaching their goals. I do my best to help my clients feel cared for and, most importantly, heard!
Talking to a stranger about your feelings and deepest, darkest secrets can be intimidating! I like to set a very casual, non-judgmental stage for sessions that allows the client to feel comfortable, as if they are talking to a trusted friend rather than someone sitting behind a desk taking notes about them. We will go over treatment expectations that the client has and vice-versa. From me, clients can expect active listening, encouragement, and occasional humor. My goal at the end of every session is to leave my clients with a sense that they are moving forward and making progress.
I maintain relationships with my clients by providing them with an environment of warmth and acceptance. I do my best to help my clients feel cared for and, most importantly, heard. Building and maintaining relationships is a major factor in mental health, and I believe that allowing clients to be their authentic selves and meeting them where they are at is the key to building strong bonds that keep the relationship going.
